I am preparing a very serious hunt for next october, Marco Polo sheep in Asia. Outfitter told me be ready to shoot really long. 400 yards and more.
Thinking about what barrel to carry I ve chosen mu 300 wby. I have used only a bit. Just 3-4 rounds and I dont know what ammo He really likes.
Any input about your experience with mannufactured ammo. What commercial ammo can I expect best groups with?
I also reload but here in Spain is not easy to find powder. I can try to get Tubal and Vithavuori. If someone reload succesfully with this powders I would thank his inputs.
Than you in advance
Norma and Federal both make very good 300 Weatherby ammo. For sheep you should not need anything heavier than 180gr, and I would look for something that shoots in your rifle between 150-165gr.
Here in Spain I cannot find 300 wby Federal ammo. I will try with weatherby ammo and reloading Hornady SST 180gr points with Vihtavouri 165
try the weatherby brand 180 grn Spire Point ammo, I have 4 blaser barrels in 300 wby and they all shoot it exceptionally well
My understanding is the spire point bullet they use is the Hornady Interlock
PM me if you need more info
